Yes, this is the Yank with the wife with the broken wrist, now referred to as "Ho Chi Minh's Revenge."
Michele and I are finally back and settled, three surgical procedures later, and she is coming along pretty well with her physiotherapy, though she will probably never play concert piano again. Not that she ever did.
It was, as I'm sure your boys have told you, a great experience. We can't say enough about your guide --he was fantastic, both on the trip and in taking charge in the aftermath of the accident. He has an incredible combination of good humor, professionalism, local info, and a sense of fun. We felt so lucky to have had him all to ourselves during our ride.
We didn't see enough of Cuong, but we had a great time with him as he prepared us for the trip.
Please thank the guys officially from us for their great work.
We feel, of course, disappointed that we had to shorten our trip-- the bike portion as well as the following planned three weeks of travel and tourism with the VTT agency. Oh well. It has us thinking that we might want to come back to you guys and properly finish the trip. Maybe next year, 2013, late October, early November, sidecar Ural.
What could you do for us starting in Hanoi and ending up in Hoi An? We were thinking 2-3 nights in Hanoi, 8-9 days on the road with you then we'd stay over 3-4 days in Hoi An. Could you manage getting the hack rig back to Hanoi or would riding back have to be part of our plan? Can we stay off Route 1 and see the backroads like the Karst trip? It's a whole year away, but the idea of having the same guide would be just over the top.
Hope your 2012 is winding up nicely for you and that 2013 will be exciting and profitable!
