If you have not heard, the Great Minsk Charity Rally is in May and we want you to come along… there is some info below on how to register and have some great fun. You can bring a pillion. The region we will ride in is just stunning in May and it's four and five-star accommodation. Do come along and enjoy a classic three-day ride and help charity.
What you need to know…
The Great Minsk Charity Rally
The Rally supports the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation and is organised by Rally Indochina, which is itself a collaboration between Vietnam’s two premier bike tour operators: Explore Indochina and Hoi An Motorbike Adventures.
It’s a remarkable ride with top-shelf accommodation and timed to be just before the rice harvest. In return, all participants are asked to make some kind of donation to Blue Dragon.
How to register for the Great Minsk Charity Rally
It’s simple, just send an email to [email protected]ploreindochina.com with your details as well as those of anyone else who will be joining you. Please include your full name, email and telephone number. We will then provide you with details on how to pay the US$350 fee to cover the Rally’s costs. You can either ride one of our 4-stroke Minsks or you can ride your own bike.
How we will meet up?
The plan is to meet up for breakfast at the Highlands Coffee in the Hanoi Opera House, at 8am on the morning of Friday the 15th. From there, we will load your bags into the support van, before we head to our garage where a Minsk will be allocated to you.
If you are riding your own bike, meet us at Highlands and we’ll show you the way to the garage. You can also leave your runaround scooter at our secure garage over the weekend if you want.
How will I know where to go?
Good question! There are actually many route options and the organisers would like there to be some flexibility so that each participant gets the kind of ride they want.
In the beginning though, it’s best that we all stick together so the group will proceed in convoy to the outskirts of town and then westwards to the Ho Chi Minh Highway. There we will break the group up into more manageable units, according to the length and difficulty of the ride each participant wants. We will email all participants the route, which you can download onto your smartphone.
Where will we be staying?
On the first night we will stay at the 5-star Emeralda Resort in Ninh Binh, while the second night will be at the new, 4-star Mai Chau Ecolodge in Mai Chau. Both nights are TWIN share so find someone else to bunk with. And yes, three lunches and two dinners are included.
How will I donate to Blue Dragon?
We will contact each of you individually during the first two days to collect your donation and provide you with a receipt. All donations will be collated and presented to a representative of Blue Dragon during the gala dinner at Mai Chau.
What will I need to pack?
You will need to bring your own helmet, rain gear and riding apparel. Please no shorts or flip flops! Then all you need is a small bag to take a change of clothes, which can either go on your bike or in the van.
Our mechanics will be along for the ride, but if you do choose to ride your own bike then please bring along a spare inner tube and any other parts you think you may need.
