Explore Indochina offers tours along the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail where you can retrace the route the North Vietnamese used to supply the South during the war.

Soldiers, ammunition, weapons and supplies were carried by hand, bicycle and truck for thousands of kilometres through and around the otherwise impenetrable mountains that run the length of Vietnam's jungle clad border with Lao. A testimony to the ingenuity, fortitude and commitment of the North Vietnamese, the Trail still exists, on both sides of the border.

We offer two kinds of rides, one in Vietnam and one in Laos. The first allows a great cruise from Hanoi to Hoi An past all the famous sites like Khe Sanh, Vinh Moc tunnels, World Heritage listed Phong Nha Cave and Khe Bang National Park, the Ho Chi Minh Trail museum, Hue, the DMZ, Quang Tri, Hoi An and much much more. It takes 8-9 days and is a great way to see the country and all its "must see" sites while steering clear from the normal tourist trail. The roads are quiet and in great condition. A perfect ride on our Urals.

The ride in Laos is a different story though. Only possible for strong, experienced and mentally prepared dirt bike riders, this true hard core adventure starts and ends in Laos, and follows the remains of the original Ho Trail under dark jungle, down steep mountain passes and through deep river crossings. Only possible during the dry season (Nov-Apr), expect to see tanks, APCs, bomb craters, cluster bombs, plane wrecks, burnt out trucks, many many bombs, secret US Green Beret bases, Vietnamese bunker/cave networks, long boats made from B52 fuel canisters and much, much more. It takes 10-13 days and is a serious ride.
